MEET OUR FOUNDER
KAITLYN PLOWMAN
Kaitlyn has been a lifelong dog lover, with a special place in her heart for strays. Her rescue dog, Kai, came from the streets of Puerto Rico, and witnessing her transformation reinforced how many dogs never get that same chance.
NuHope was born after Kaitlyn saw the potential to make a difference at a local shelter. What started with donating beds grew into a mission to bring comfort, support, and new possibilities to as many dogs as possible.
Inspired by her first dog, who was given the nickname "Nu", and motivated by every rescue journey, Kaitlyn founded NuHope to collaborate with shelters and ensure that every dog receives the care and attention they deserve. This is just the beginning of a brighter future for shelter dogs everywhere.
Why I Started NuHope
There are countless reasons why NuHope came to life, but at its core, it’s about improving the lives of as many dogs as possible, whether by giving them a cozy bed, helping them find a loving home, or making their time in a shelter a little brighter.
Shelter dogs deserve more than just a place to stay, they deserve comfort, care, and the chance to be seen. I want to be their voice, help them get exposure, and show people that adoption isn’t just an option, it’s life-changing, for both the dog and their future family.
Our Mission
NuHope exists to ensure every shelter dog has the comfort they deserve. By providing beds, blankets, and essential supplies, we help create a more supportive and nurturing environment for dogs as they wait for their forever homes.
But our impact goes beyond the shelters. Through donations, we also support rescue efforts, medical care, and outreach programs—helping more dogs get the second chance they deserve.
Together, we can make shelters feel more like home and bring hope to dogs in need, one bed at a time.
The Moment That Changed Everything

The idea for NuHope had been in my heart for a long time, but the moment I knew I had to take action came early last year.
A friend reached out, knowing I was the “dog person,” after finding a mother dog and her puppy abandoned in a small area behind a busy road in Miami. We spent the entire day trying to safely rescue them. When I later visited the local humane society to check on how they were doing, I saw firsthand how many dogs, especially seniors, were in need of extra comfort.
That day, I ordered the first beds. It was the moment I knew something had to change. And it was only the beginning.
Diamond
I found Diamond wandering the streets of Miami after being dumped by her former owners. She had been taking shelter under a car, but when I learned local kids were hurting her, I knew I had to step in. With some help, I provided everything a family needed to take her in. Their children helped me bathe her, and together, we made sure she had a safe, loving home. Today, Diamond thrives as a cherished family member, no longer a stray but truly loved.

The Dogs That Inspire This Mission
Kai
My own rescue from the streets of Puerto Rico. Malnourished, terrified, and completely shut down, Kai taught me the depth of what street dogs endure. Watching her transform has only deepened my commitment to giving more dogs a chance at a better life.

Sandy
A shelter dog I fostered after Hurricane Milton. She spent almost her entire life in a shelter, simply because she was overlooked. Her story is a driving force behind everything I want to accomplish with NuHope.

Our Vision
The long-term vision for NuHope is to expand our impact beyond shelters. I want to build a team that travels internationally, providing spay and neuter programs to slow the overpopulation crisis.
I want NuHope’s social media to be a platform that helps dogs get the exposure they need to find homes. I want to ensure every shelter we partner with has the beds, blankets, and supplies needed to make dogs feel safe and loved. The road ahead is long, but for now, we start with what we can.
